About us
We are a small private practice based on Thomas Street in Bristol. We look after children, parents and grandparents, and we believe a good appointment is one where everyone leaves knowing exactly what happens next.
Felix Indiana Scott Burton is a consultant-led practice focused on clinical biology - the science of what a blood sample can tell us about how the body is working. Much of our day is spent taking samples, arranging the right laboratory tests and sitting down with families to explain what the results mean.
Our home is 4 Thomas Street in St. Pauls, Bristol, and our consultants also see patients at hospitals and clinics in London and the South East. Wherever you see us, the approach is the same: we take time to listen, we explain things in plain words, and we never rush the moment that matters most to you.
A blood test can be a small thing on paper and a big thing for the person having it. We built the practice around that difference.
Plenty of the children we see arrive worried, and so do plenty of adults. Here is how we try to make it easier for you both.
You know your child best. Let us know when you book if they have had a difficult test before, or if a favourite toy, a song or a tablet video helps them settle.
We explain what will happen in words that suit your child's age, and we give them a moment to ask questions before we begin.
You can stay with your child the whole time, holding their hand or with them on your lap - whatever feels most comforting.
When the results are back, we talk you through them clearly and tell you honestly whether anything needs to happen next.
Nervous about needles yourself? The same care applies to you. Just mention it, and we will take things slowly.
Every appointment is led by a consultant, so you always see an experienced doctor who can answer your questions directly.
